I’m really pleased to have one of my documentary images included in the August Selection of Excellence from The Leica Meet. The Leica Meet is unique in as much as they are a multi-disciplinary photographic group held loosely together by the use of Leica cameras and their passion for photography. Every month, a ’Selection of Excellence’ is curated from the memberships posts to the Leica Meet Facebook page that boasts over 16K worldwide followers.
My image is one taken at a location close to my studio in Saddleworth, known locally as Hey Top Cottages or 40 Row. The cottages date back to when the mills in the area were being built and provided rented accommodation for the workforce. Combining subjects that have important historical importance with a camera system like the Leica M Rangefinder that has its own historical importance is an important part of my documentary work and why I enjoy being a Leica photographer.
